Self-organized critical and synchronized states in a nonequilibrium percolation model.

چکیده
We introduce a nonequilibrium percolation model which shows a selforganized critical (SOC) state and several periodic states. In the SOC state, the correlation length diverges slower than the system size, and the corresponding exponent depends non universally on the parameter of the model. The periodic states contain an infinite cluster covering only part of the system. PACS numbers: 05.40.+j, 05.70.Jk, 05.70.Ln Typeset using REVTEX

ABSORBING STATE TRANSITIONS IN CLEAN AND DISORDERED LATTICE MODELS by MAN
Nonequilibrium systems can undergo continuous phase transitions between different steady states. These transitions are characterized by collective fluctuations over large distances and long times similar to the behavior of equilibrium critical points. They also can be divided into different universality classes according to their critical behavior. This dissertation considers two types of noneq...
متن کاملPaths to Self-Organized Criticality
We present a pedagogical introduction to self-organized criticality (SOC), unraveling its connections with nonequilibrium phase transitions. There are several paths from a conventional critical point to SOC. They begin with an absorbing-state phase transition (directed percolation is a familiar example), and impose supervision or driving on the system; two commonly used methods are extremal dyn...
متن کاملOn the numerical study of percolation and epidemic critical properties in networks
The static properties of the fundamental model for epidemics of diseases allowing immunity (susceptible-infected-removed model) are known to be derivable by an exact mapping to bond percolation. Yet when performing numerical simulations of these dynamics in a network a number of subtleties must be taken into account in order to correctly estimate the transition point and the associated critical...
متن کاملSelf Organized Critical Dynamics of a Directed Bond Percolation Model
We study roughening interfaces with a constant slope that become self organized critical by a rule that is similar to that of invasion percolation. The transient and critical dynamical exponents show Galilean invariance. The activity along the interface exhibits nontrivial power law correlations in both space and time. The probability distribution of the activity pattern follows an algebraic re...
متن کاملPair Contact Process with Diffusion: Field Theory
– We elucidate the mechanism underlying the continuous nonequilibrium phase transition of the Pair Contact Process with Diffusion (PCPD). We compute its scaling exponents to second order in an ε-expansion around the upper critical dimension dc = 2 within a simple functional renormalization group (RG) approach. In particular, we establish that the PCPD is not in the directed percolation universa...
